Tredegar signage

The brief

Following PCI Pharma Services’ brand refresh in late 2025, sites around the world began updating their environments to reflect the new identity. Tredegar required a particularly broad programme of work, covering both the exterior of the site and key internal spaces.

The project began with new building and directional signage across the grounds. It needed to be practical and easy to navigate, while giving the site a stronger and more consistent presence.

At the same time, a new reception area was being created at the front of the CMF2 building. Escape was asked to develop the space using a combination of environmental graphics, signage and branded details that would introduce PCI, communicate its vision and mission, and make the reception feel brighter, more welcoming and more considered.

Our approach

Working with long-standing specialist collaborators, we developed the exterior signage from initial concepts through to manufacture and installation. Several illumination options were explored, including backlit and internally illuminated lettering, before settling on halo as the most appropriate solution.

We also looked for opportunities to go beyond the purely functional. Rather than specifying a conventional directional sign at the entrance, we proposed something with much more presence: a locally appropriate stone wall topped with a clean, contemporary metal sign, alongside an upright feature carrying a three-dimensional PCI logo.

Inside, the new reception drew directly from PCI’s corporate visual language, using the distinctive red and blue palette and liquid imagery. Copy was deliberately kept short, allowing bold graphics and colour to do much of the work. The reception desk was treated as part of the overall environment rather than simply a piece of furniture, with integrated lighting and its own three-dimensional PCI identity.

White walls and restrained furniture provided a neutral backdrop, allowing the stronger branded elements to stand out without overwhelming the space. The scope soon expanded beyond the reception itself. For one of the main social areas, we proposed a large wall installation exploring Tredegar and the surrounding area. Rather than concentrating solely on Aneurin Bevan, the idea was to tell a broader story about the town, its people, its industrial past and its wider cultural heritage.
