Welsh Lady Preserves

The brief

Welsh Lady Preserves already had a strong and recognisable visual identity, but wanted to build on that presence, raise awareness and create a more distinctive set of materials for trade and export markets. Having previously encountered the company through our work on the Taste Wales directory and similar Royal Welsh Show publications, we approached them to see where we could help develop the brand further.

The brief was not to reinvent what was already working, but to strengthen it. The new material needed to feel confident, premium and memorable, while remaining clearly rooted in the character of the business. Where appropriate, we also wanted to draw on the company’s heritage and long-established history, including the fact that Welsh Lady Preserves has been producing in Wales since 1966.

Our approach

We began with a bespoke presentation box for miniature taster jars, designed specifically for overseas trade shows. This became a particularly interesting production project, involving extensive testing and development to achieve a very delicate foil finish successfully and consistently.

Alongside this, we created an unusual folding A3 leaflet, deliberately designed to feel different from more conventional competitor literature and to give the brand greater impact in a busy trade-show environment. To support the new material, we commissioned a suite of striking product photography through one of our trusted photographic suppliers, giving Welsh Lady a stronger and more flexible bank of imagery to use across future communications.

We also designed and developed the look and structure for an online product catalogue, ultimately produced as an interactive PDF and refined over several updates. The new photography was so well received that Welsh Lady returned to us a few months later to commission a further shoot.
